On Thursday 10th of November, the opening ceremony of the 2016 Hyundai Bennelong Cup, an international table tennis match was held at Parliament House. An initiative of the Hon John Alexander MP, this annual event was established to promote friendship through sports among the youth of participating countries. This year, Japan, Australia, China, South Korea and Team Oceania participated.

At the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP and Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Julie Bishop MP gave speeches, and the ambassodors from each participating country cheered on their national teams.

Sport is a universal language, and we hope each country can strengthen sports exchange and international relations through this friendly competition.
