Conferral of the Minister for Foreign Affairs’ Commendation on Mr Scott Fardy

On 18 January 2023, Ambassador YAMAGAMI Shingo presented the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr Scott Fardy, in recognition of Mr Fardy’s extraordinary contribution to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and Australia.
Ambassador YAMAGAMI offered words of praise for Mr Fardy’s support following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and his activities in relation to promoting friendship between Japan and Australia. (Ambassador YAMAGAMI's speech is available here) In addition, Mr NODA Takenori, Mayor of Kamaishi City, sent a video message to congratulate Mr Fardy on the award.
Mr Fardy, after expressing his gratitude on receiving the award, reflected that his stay in Kamaishi is a very important moment of his life, and praised the ongoing recovery efforts from the disaster.
