Exchange Programmes

Assistant Language Teacher (ALT)
Coordinator of International Relations (CIR)
The Japanese government provides various exchange programmes and scholarships to Australian students and graduates interested in studying and working in Japan.

JET Programme

The JET Programme is aimed at promoting grass-roots international exchange between Japan and other nations, inviting young university graduates from around the world to participate in international exchange work and be involved in foreign language education at Japan’s local government offices, boards of education, and schools. 
 

Positions

 
  1. ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) ALTs are placed mainly in public schools or local boards of education and assist with English classes.
  2. CIR (Coordinator for International Relations) Applicants with a functional command of the Japanese language can apply to work as CIRs, assisting local government offices in international exchange activities at the local level.

Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship

 

MEXT offers various scholarships to study in Japan. The aim is to foster Japan experts in various fields who will become bridges between Australia and Japan through studying in Japan. They will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world. All scholarships include tuition fees, return airfares, health insurance and a monthly stipend.
 

Categories

  
1. Undergraduate is offered to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
2. Research is offered to those who have the intention of obtaining a master’s, doctoral, or professional graduate degree in Japan (In most cases, Japanese language ability is not necessary)
 
3. Japanese Studies is offered to university undergraduate students who major in a field related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture for the duration of one year.
4. Teachers Training is offered to teachers of primary school, high school or college level.
