JET Programme Farewell Reception
2023/7/12
On 5 July 2023, Ambassador Suzuki hosted a Farewell Reception for 7 new JET Programme participants from Canberra who will depart for Japan at the end of this month.
The 7 new JETs were joined by Senator Catryna Bilyk, Chair of the Australia-Japan Parliamentary Group, Ms Lynette Wood, former Australian Ambassador to Germany (and former JET), Mr Rafael Villadiego, President of the JET Alumni Association (JETAA) of Canberra, and Mr HIRAKI Manya, Executive Director of the Japan Local Government Centre (CLAIR Sydney), as well as former JETs working for the Australian Government, and JETAA members.
Shortly, these new JET Programme participants will begin teaching in schools across Japan – from Tohoku in the north to Kyushu in the south, and from Japan’s famous capital city to a tiny World Heritage-listed island. These JETs will not only teach English, but also be involved in all aspects of foreign-language learning, and work to increase cross-cultural interaction on a regional level.
We are looking forward to seeing some great work from you!
