2024 Autumn Conferment of Decorations

On 3 November, the Government of Japan announced the 2024 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on recipients for their outstanding contribution to their respective areas.
The Embassy of Japan in Australia wishes it to be known that the following five recipients in Australia shall be conferred with decorations in recognition of their service.
The details of the recipients are as follow;
GEN Angus John Campbell, AO, DSC
Former Chief of the Defence Force
GEN Angus John Campbell, AO, DSC has been awarded The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for his contribution to strengthening relations in the field of defence between Japan and Australia.
Mr. Arun Radha Krishnan
Former Head of the Japanese Studies Unit in the Department of Economics at the University of Western Australia
Former Head of Asian studies in the School of Arts at Murdoch University
Mr. Arun Radha Krishnan has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette for his contribution to promoting academic exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Australia.
Mr. Philip Mitchell
Former president of the National Federation of Australia Japan Societies
Former president of the Australia-Japan Society of New South Wales
Mr. Philip Mitchell has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to promoting friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Australia.
Dr. Robyn Louise Spence-Brown
President of the Japanese Language Speech Contest Victoria Inc.
Former Senior Lecturer in Japanese Studies at the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University
Dr. Robyn Louise Spence-Brown has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette for her contribution to developing language education in Australia and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and Australia
Mr Nicholas Peter Warner, AO, PSM
Former Director-General of National Intelligence
Former Director-General of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS)
Former Secretary of the Australian Department of Defence
Mr Nicholas Peter Warner, AO, PSM has been awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star for his contribution to strengthening relations in the field of national security between Japan and Australia.
