Conferral Ceremony of the 2025 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Dr. Peter Hendriks, Former Lecturer, School of Culture, History and Language, College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University.

On the 15th of July 2026, a ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s official residence to present the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, to Dr. Peter Hendriks, former Lecturer at the School of Culture, History and Language, College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University. The decoration was awarded as the 2025 Autumn Conferment of Decorations for Foreign Nationals in recognition of his contributions to the promotion of academic exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Australia.
In the presence of Dr. Hendriks’s family, friends and colleagues from the Australian National University, Ambassador Suzuki delivered a congratulatory speech praising Dr. Hendriks for his dedicated efforts in the development of Japanese language education and Japanese studies in Australia, as well as in the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Australia. In response, Dr. Hendriks gave a speech expressing his gratitude.
