The 8th Tohoku Youth Program participants pay a courtesy call to Ambassador Kusaka

2016/8/9
On 3 August, Ambassador Kusaka and Mrs Kusaka met with the four Tohoku Youth Program participants at the Ambassador’s Residence. The participants were invited by the Australia Japan Society (ACT) Inc. (AJS) which established this program to invite those young people who lost their parents in the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Since the establishment of this program, 26 Japanese students from the Tohoku region have been invited to Canberra. During their two week stay in Canberra, each participant will stay with an Australian family and go to a local school as well as experiencing Australian culture and nature.

The participants seemed nervous as they had just arrived in Australia, but were very interested talking with Ambassador Kusaka and Mrs Kusaka.

AJS organises many charity events to raise funds for the Tohoku Youth Program, and the Embassy of Japan would like to continue supporting their activities.
