Ambassador Takahashi’s Visit to the State of South Australia

Ambassador Takahashi paid an official visit to the State of South Australia 15-16 April 2019. He had general exchanges of views on the Japan-Australia relationship and ways to promote stronger ties between Japan and the State of South Australia with dignitaries including His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC, Governor of South Australia; the Hon Andrew McLachlan CSC MLC, President of the Legislative Council of the State of South Australia; the Hon Vincent Tarzia MP, Speaker of the House of Assembly of the State of South Australia; and the Hon Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia.
Japan is the third largest trading partner for South Australia and our economic ties have now strengthened in various fields such as agriculture, livestock, energy and medical industries. South Australia is also an active participant in many sister city relationships with Japan including the partnership between South Australia and Okayama Prefecture which marked its 25th anniversary last year. Many diversified cultural exchange events have been held in South Australia.
Through his visit the Ambassador reconfirmed the importance of the long term partnership between Japan and South Australia and the need to work towards even stronger relations in a wide range of fields including trade, energy, culture, science and technology, and space. Based on this successful visit, Ambassador Takahashi will continue to expend every effort to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and the State of South Australia.
