2016/4/27
Ambassador Kusaka made an official visit to Western Australia from the 9th to the 13th of April. Ambassador Kusaka shared opinions with a large range of people. In Broome he met with members of the Japanese-descent community and other city residents, in Perth he met with Her Excellency The Hon Kerry Sanderson AO and The Hon Colin Barnett MLA, Premier of Western Australia and many other state politicians, and met many representatives of companies involved in the mining and resource energy sectors. Ambassador Kusaka also visited a range of facilities including HMAS Stirling naval base.
Ambassador Kusaka was able to use his official visit to confirm the ties of friendship between Japan and Australia, the oldest of which dates back to the 19th century and the pearl divers of Broome. He was also able to confirm the strong economic ties between Japan and Western Australia forged through more than 50 years of mining resources, as well as the increasing close security partnership between Australia and Japan, and re-affirmed the need for even stronger ties in the future. Ambassador Kusaka expressed his intention on the occasion of this visit to continue to expend every effort in further strengthening the links between Japan and Western Australia.
