WIC Japan Circle Kimono Event at the Ambassador's Residence

On 11th March Mrs Kusaka, wife of the Ambassador, hosted a Kimono event at the Ambassador’s Residence for the Japan Club of the Women’s International Club (WIC), Japan Circle. Many colourful and beautiful Kimono and obi were put on display at the Residence and members of Japan Circle were impressed by their beauty. Spouses of Japanese diplomats wore kimono in a fashion parade where the participants learned that there are many different types of Kimono for different occasions. Kimono designs are inspired by the seasons and come in many different patterns and materials, allowing the wearer to express their own sense of style. Participants enjoyed putting on Yukata (summer cotton kimono) and experiencing the world of Kimono.
