2021 Spring Conferment of Decorations of Foreign Nationals

The Government of Japan announced on 29 April the 2021 Spring Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals for their outstanding contribution to their respective areas.
The Embassy of Japan in Australia wishes it to be known that the following two recipients from the area that the Embassy covers shall be conferred with decorations in recognition of their services. The details of the recipients are as follow;
The Hon Julia Eileen Gillard
Former Prime Minister of Australia, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education, Chair of Beyond Blue, Chair of the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership
The Hon Julia Eileen Gillard has been awarded “Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun” for her contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendly relations between Japan and Australia.
The Hon Warren George Entsch
Former Chair of the Australia/Japan Parliamentary Group. Former Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, Member of the House of Representatives
The Hon Warren George Entsch has been awarded “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” for his contribution to strengthening ties between Japan and Australia and the promotion of parliamentary exchange.
