Ambassador Suzuki’s Meeting with the Hon Milton Dick MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives

On November 4, Ambassador Suzuki paid a courtesy call on the Hon Milton Dick MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Ambassador gave congratulations to the Hon Milton Dick MP on his re-election as Speaker of the House of Representatives, and they discussed further developments in Japan-Australia relations ahead of next year’s 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (also known as the NARA Treaty).
 
On the same evening, the Australia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group and Australia-Japan Society co-hosted the Japanese Sake event, “A Taste of Japan”, in The Speaker’s Courtyard. Ambassador Suzuki and the Hon Milton Dick MP attended the event among almost 100 other members of the Australia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group and Australia-Japan Society including the Hon Madeleine King MP, Minister for Resources and for Northern Australia, Mr David Smith MP, Chair of the Australia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Senator Slade Brockman, Deputy President of the Senate and Vice Chair of the Australia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group and Premier of Western Australia, the Hon Roger Cook MLA.
