2024/4/11
Ambassador Suzuki Kazuhiro visited Newcastle and joined the Foundation Ceremony for MCi Carbon's Mineral Carbonation Demonstration Plant ('Myrtle'), together with Federal Climate Change and Energy Minister Hon Chris Bowen MP and Federal Member for Newcastle, Ms Sharon Claydon MP.
This technology uses carbon dioxide emitted from factories to produce a carbonate, which can then be used in the production of materials such as low carbon cement, concrete and paper.
Ambassador Suzuki welcomed investment from Japanese companies interested in the commercialisation of MCi's technology. He also spoke about his expectations for the further development of Japan-Australia relations in the field of decarbonisation, including through the use of cutting-edge technology.
