Conferral Ceremony of the 2026 Spring Conferment of Decorations on Ms. Debra Hazelton, Vice President of the Australia-Japan Business Co-operation Committee

On the 30th of June 2026, a ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s official residence to present the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, to Ms. Debra Hazelton, Vice President of the Australia-Japan Business Co-operation Committee (AJBCC). The decoration was awarded as part of the 2026 Spring Conferment of Decorations for Foreign Nationals in recognition of her contributions to strengthening economic relations between Japan and Australia.
In the presence of Ms. Jan Adams AO, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and many other distinguished guests, Ambassador Suzuki delivered a congratulatory speech praising Ms. Hazelton for her dedicated efforts in realising new projects and cooperative frameworks while connecting the business communities of both countries, as well as her contributions to promoting the advancement of women in business. In response, Ms. Hazelton gave a speech expressing her gratitude.
